Running e-commerce can be hard. It comes with a million questions like how to develop an ecommerce store, how to develop an ecommerce website and how to develop a strategy that can increase your sales.

Here is one technique that Amazon uses that made 35% of total revenue and that technique is called upsell.

What is upsell?

Upsell is to get customers to buy an expensive version of your product, for example when someone finally decides which phone to buy Amazon offers their customer a variety of other goods related to phones like screen protectors ,cases ,pop sockets and gift wrapping.

Dos and don’ts while using upsell technique.

Do’s-

1 .Upsell product that already doing well -

Look at your performance metrics and sales numbers to see which products are worth upselling .

2 .Upsell during checkout -

You can upsell your customer during checkout by offering them similar products or premium products.

3. Create scarcity-

Scarcity will get people in a buying mood and help them make their decision quickly and create demand for your product.

4 .Use color psychology-

Website design plays a huge role in selling products. Wrong color can be distracting and can make customers leave.

While color like blue increases CTR of Amazon up to 36.3%.

5 .Upsell item that are special or excess-

This is a great way to sell items which are overstocked ,which can match with items they already bought.

6 . show them the trending product of 2020-

People tend to get influenced and buy products that many people brought because of fear of missing out.

Don’t make them think you are here to sell them things make them think you are here to make their life easy.

Keep it relevant to them

2 .Give them too many options-

Having too many options can cause decision fatigue and they may ended up buying not more than they would

So keep it simple with limited options.
